Are you looking for an activity to help students start 2022 with the end in mind? Then this Free 2022 Goal Activity is a great resource for you to download and use in your classroom. Continue reading to see one way you can use this worksheet.
Introduce the 2022 Goal Activity
I start every morning with a quick class meeting. More time is allotted for the meeting on the first day back from winter break. In addition to reviewing daily routines and procedures, I like to motivate students with some type of goal activity.
This foldable has 4 sections for students to create goals. The four categories are reading, math, physical and social. First, model for your class how you create a measurable and realistic goal for each section.
Check out my goals below for ideas you can use on your example:
- Reading- I will read one nonfiction book a month.
- Math- I will attend one fraction workshop.
- Physical- I will walk 1 mile 5 days a week with my family.
- Social-I will start a book club with my neighbors and meet once a month to discuss the book.
Brainstorm Different Goals
Grab a piece of chart paper and divide it into 4 sections. Label them reading, math, physical and social. As a class collect 4-5 goals for each category.
Students Create Their 2022 Goals
Give students the 2022 Goal Activity and a piece of construction paper. Let them cut out their foldable and assemble it before creating one goal for each category. As they finish, let them color it and illustrate the different goals.
Share 2022 Goal Activity
Over the next week, let 3-4 people share the goal they are most excited about with the class. I love to hang this activity on our classroom door, so students are reminded of their goals as they enter and leave the classroom. I’ve also stored the foldable in students’ planners or data notebooks so they can revisit their goals throughout the year.
I hope this free 2022 goal activity is a blessing to your classroom and makes returning to the classroom easier.
