These word problem pumpkins look great hanging from a string as a banner. Each pumpkin has a tab at the top of the stem that can be cut off or folded over a piece of string to make hanging them easier. They can be colored bright orange or go without.
The Florida BEST 3rd Grade Math Halloween pumpkins also make a boring classroom door or window more exciting for students. They get to see their work displayed and some seasonal fun at the same time.

How to Make Your Own Word Problem Halloween Activity
First, you need to find some free pumpkin or ghost templates online. Print them out and make enough copies for your whole class.
Project a few word problems on the board for students to copy on to their templates. They can copy the whole problem or just capture the main points using a table like the one I have included in my activity.
Ask students to identify what they know, are looking for and what they need to do to answer the question. Teaching students to read the problem multiples times helps them slow down and comprehend the question before they solve.
